Piston Regulator

So, this time lets check Piston Regulators out!

Basicly Piston Regulators come out later than Diaphragm Regs,

Piston regs share better idea than Diaphram.

They have less parts comparing to Diaphram.

Check the followings to know the advatage and disadvantage of Piston.

Advantages:

Simplicity, especially in unbalanced piston designs;

Durability;

The potential for very high air flow in balanced piston designs;

Disadvantages:

The potential for freezing: piston is exposed to surrounding water.

In very cold conditions it may freeze.

Those who dive in extremely cold water often prefer diaphragm first stages for this reason.

There are ways to seal the piston from water using specal grease,

but this make the overhaul more expensive.
